14. HEALTH CARE IN AMERICA OR THE LACK THEREOF!
First of all Private Health Insurance is about making a profit for it's Share Holders!
Second if it's to make a profit, it cannot take risks with the Shareholder's money. Like for example the Banks and other 'Too Big To Fail Companies' have!
Third unless they are allowed to underwrite (review and eliminate) bad risks they cannot make a profit! (car insurance and now health insurance are now both mandated by law). But if the car insurance company deems you to be a bad risk they don't have to take you thus insuring their survival whereas regardless of risk the Health Insurance Company must insure you by law regardless of the fact that you are a bad risk, and their not being allowed to charge an additional premium will insure their demise and open to door to single payer (National Health Service) NHS.
Every single member of all three branches of government, at the Local, State and Federal levels, understands the above 3 principles of Insurance perfectly. So why did we have a 2000 page 'Health Reform Bill' put on the table that will allow the Health Insurance Industry to compensate for the added cost they will incur if mandated to accept increased risks (read increased costs) as well as creating another (at last count)158 government agencies to administrate this bill?
Well as Proamericans we all know the answer. Wether or not we are prepared to admit it. The masters of our Politicians the Health Insurance Companies in this case had told them what they wanted and then they wrote the entire bill. Our Congress then rubber stamped it without reading it and now it's the law of the land. Incredable? Not really, it's business as usual in Washington. They do what they are bribed to do.
Yes they got 49,000,000 new customers and the loop hole to put up their rates. Here Obama has played both hands against the middle. Single payer will come into force through the back door and the Insurance Companies will be left the lucrative business of supplimental Insurance for those who can afford to receive additional benefits which OBAMACARE will refuse to provide. For our Elected Offials an added bonus the prospect of creating 10,000 or more jobs in the public sector (snouts in the trough).
Wow!! Of course there's a bit more to it than that. But in a nutshell that is the only way they (our elected Politicians) are going to give us 'Health Care Reform.'
They, down to the last one, each know that 'True Health Reform', for the people who agreed to let themselves be governed by them as their elected representation, should only allow the Health Insurance Industry to market supplemental insurance and that our Federal Government supply a manditory not for profit plan that every person living in America is obligated to contribute to. Whether it's called Medicare E (stands for everyone) or National Health, it is the only practical way to cover all American Citizens.
We believe that Health Insurance is a right for all Americans with no exclusions. Furthermore we know of no Senior Citizen who would give up their Medicare. So why not extend it to include everyone? Employer's could simply deduct a standerdised Medicare E premium at source. Just as they do with payroll and income taxes.
The Young who are the least likely to get sick would be underwriting the Old who more likely to get sick. Medicare is not subsidised by everyone under 65 so it is not possible to make it self suffient (pay for itself) without increasing the premiums to an unacceptable level. None of this is rocket science. There was a 30 page bill sitting out there that extends medicare, but our 'Elected Politicians' at the bidding of their masters. The Insurance Companies would not even let this short 30 page readable bill ever see the light of day so that it could have been publically debated.
Let us make no mistake. We as Proamericans resist change and because of our unwillingness as a nation to take a healthy interest in Politics. We are out of step with the times.
We cling to FARENHEIT as opposed to CELSIUS and the same goes for weights and measurements inches and lbs, everyone else is on metric (multiples of 10 grams-kilos-millimeters-centimeters-milliliters-liters).
National Health is the standard in every developed country. We spend more than twice the amount on Health Care compared to other industrialised nations. We are stick in the muds and don't think of America as a Whole Healthy Nation.
Much as some of us feel National Health call it what you will is unamerican, the idea is sound and we should have had it 50 years ago.
We ask the Canadian's what's wrong with their system and of course they tell us (it's all in how you ask the question). The obvious question to ask them is would they give up 'Their System For Our System' which do they prefer 'Our System or Their System'. We all know what their answer would be. Don't we? If you were 65 would you give up Medicare. Of course not!
OF COURSE IT COULD!
ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING COULD BE BETTER.
I would suggest a manditory co-payment $10.00 for first time visits per each new case. no exceptions. That Practitioners must choose between running a public practice or a privete practice. That means one or the other.
